Autumn Abundance in Arreton Valley

Last week, Branstone Farm picked its first apple from the community orchard – that’s big news for us!

Because Branstone Farm is more than ‘just’ an island housing development, albeit much needed affordable housing for island people, it’s a new residential and business community that has biodiversity, sustainability and positive environmental impact at its heart.

Branstone Farm is set in the stunning Arreton Valley that borders one of the designated Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty localities on the island. In the autumn months, it’s awash with wonderful produce, such as our first apple, all grown by some of the best farms and artisan food producers on the island.

Flowing through the landscape from Arreton Down, through Arreton Nature Reserve (a Site of Special Scientific Interest), past the old village of Arreton and into The Bembridge Trail, the valley is blessed with the Eastern Yar river that helps to make this a fertile location for cultivating, growing and harvesting.

It also means that the Arreton Valley is fast becoming the latest foodie and travel destination on the Isle of Wight!

Garlic Farm

Eat your way around Arreton

Many people who live or visit the Isle of Wight know about some of the finest tomatoes and vast range of garlic grown in the Arreton Valley but our food trail goes further than the expected!

Island chilli growers and fantastic fungi abound along with other producers to complement and accompany your ‘Arreton menu’. Island grazed dairy herds produce rich milk for Island cheese to go with your locally made biscuits.

There’s even the oldest continually producing vineyard in the UK for that glass of something special or perhaps a local craft beer is more to your taste.
